Only a handful of VPNs sell a weekly plan, and almost all of them do it only inside their iPhone apps. On 21 October 2026, BambooVPN sold weekly plans on both iPhone and Android, ExpressVPN on iPhone and Google Play, and CyberGhost, IPVanish, Turbo VPN and VPN Super Unlimited Proxy on iPhone. NordVPN, Surfshark, Proton VPN and PIA start at one month. A weekly plan makes sense for a short trip, but it's the most expensive way to use a VPN all year.
Disclosure: we make BambooVPN. We checked each app's US App Store listing, Google Play listing and website on 21 October 2026, and we include the downsides of weekly plans, including ours.
VPNs with a weekly plan
| VPN | Weekly on iPhone | Weekly on Android | Weekly on its website | Free version |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BambooVPN | Yes | Yes | Sold in the apps only | Yes, with no ads |
| ExpressVPN | Yes ("1-Week Subscription") | Yes (Google Play) | No | No |
| CyberGhost | Yes ("1-Week Plan") | Not verified | No | No |
| IPVanish | Yes ("1 Week Subscription") | Not verified | No | No |
| Turbo VPN | Yes ("Weekly Plan") | Not verified | No | Yes |
| VPN Super Unlimited Proxy | Yes ("1-Week Plan") | Not verified | No | Yes |
"Not verified" means Google Play doesn't list plan lengths publicly and the provider doesn't say. The App Store shows up to 10 purchase options per app, so an app could have a weekly plan that isn't shown.
Popular VPNs with no weekly plan (none among the purchases shown on the App Store or on their websites): NordVPN, Surfshark, Proton VPN, Private Internet Access, Windscribe, TunnelBear, Hotspot Shield, PureVPN, hide.me, VyprVPN and Norton VPN.
The best weekly VPN options
1. BambooVPN: weekly on iPhone and Android
BambooVPN is one of the few VPNs that sells a weekly plan on both iPhone and Android, and it also has a free version, so you can try it before paying anything. The app groups servers by what you're doing, such as streaming, sports and work, which suits a quick setup before a trip. Pro adds BambooShield, a Kill Switch and Secure Core.

2. ExpressVPN: weekly on iPhone and Google Play
ExpressVPN sells a 1-week subscription in its iPhone app, and its help pages say Google Play subscriptions can be weekly, monthly or yearly. It covers 113 countries, offers obfuscation and 10 to 14 devices, and KPMG audited its no-logs policy in 2025. There's no free version. See BambooVPN vs ExpressVPN.
3. CyberGhost: weekly on iPhone
CyberGhost's iPhone app sells a 1-week plan. It lists 9,600+ servers in 100 countries, supports 7 devices, and Deloitte audited its no-logs policy in 2025. On the App Store, its 7-day free trial is attached to the monthly plan, not the weekly one.
Also with weekly plans on iPhone
IPVanish, Turbo VPN and VPN Super Unlimited Proxy also sell weekly plans in their iPhone apps. We haven't reviewed their privacy practices in depth for this article, so check their privacy policies before you subscribe.
Is a weekly VPN plan worth it?
Yes, for short stays. A weekly plan is a good fit when:
- you're away for a week, such as a holiday, a conference or a business trip
- you need a VPN for one event or a few days of public Wi-Fi
- you want to try paid features without a long commitment
No, for everyday use. Weekly plans cost far more over a year. Renewed for 52 weeks, ExpressVPN's weekly iPhone plan costs more than five times its 12-month App Store plan, and BambooVPN's yearly plan saves about 80% compared with paying weekly for a year. If you'll use a VPN for more than a month or two, choose a yearly plan: BambooVPN's yearly plan protects you all year and includes a 7-day free trial. For BambooVPN's current prices, see our plans.
How to avoid weekly subscription traps
Security researchers have warned about apps that turn a short free trial into an expensive weekly charge. In 2020 and 2021, Avast found VPN and other apps doing exactly that. Apple and Google require apps to show the price, the billing period and when a trial converts, so:
- Read the price and billing period on the purchase screen before you confirm.
- Check the App Store's In-App Purchases list to see an app's real plans and prices.
- Set a reminder to cancel before the week ends if you only need it for one trip.
- Cancel in your phone's subscription settings. Deleting the app doesn't cancel the subscription.
On iPhone, go to Settings → your name → Subscriptions. On Android, open Google Play → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
Frequently asked questions
Does NordVPN have a weekly plan?
No. On 21 October 2026, NordVPN's shortest plan was one month, and no weekly plan was among the purchases shown on its App Store listing.
What's the shortest VPN subscription you can buy?
One week. Apple's rules say auto-renewing subscriptions must last at least seven days, so weekly is the shortest plan an iPhone app can sell.
Does a weekly VPN plan renew automatically?
Yes. App store subscriptions renew until you cancel them in your subscription settings, even if you delete the app.
Is there a free alternative to a weekly plan?
Yes. BambooVPN, Turbo VPN and VPN Super Unlimited Proxy have free versions, and Proton VPN has a free plan with no ads that works on one device. For a short trip, a free version may be enough. See our comparison of travel VPNs.
