Is BambooVPN Safe? Who Runs It and What It Logs (2026)

Is BambooVPN safe and legit? Who runs it, what it does and doesn't log, how the free version is funded, and what it doesn't claim. Facts, October 2026.

Yes. BambooVPN is a legitimate VPN app made by Viral Apps LLC, a US company, and it has been on the App Store and Google Play since 2022. It encrypts your connection with WireGuard or OpenVPN and follows a no-logs policy for your browsing. It hasn't had an independent no-logs audit yet, so below is exactly what it does and doesn't collect.

Disclosure: this page is written by the BambooVPN team. We've stuck to facts you can check in our privacy policy, terms and app store listings, and we're clear about what BambooVPN does and doesn't do.

Who runs BambooVPN?

BambooVPN is operated by Viral Apps LLC, 440 North Barranca Ave 8595, Covina, CA 91723, USA, which is also the seller named on the App Store. You can reach the team at support@bamboovpn.com.

Because the company is in the US, its terms are governed by California law. Some privacy-focused users prefer VPNs based outside the US; if that matters to you, it's worth knowing before you choose.

What BambooVPN doesn't log

According to the privacy policy, BambooVPN does not log:

  • your browsing activity
  • your connection timestamps
  • your IP addresses or DNS queries
  • the content or data that passes through the VPN

The policy also states that BambooVPN does not sell, rent or trade your personal data.

What BambooVPN does collect

No VPN app collects nothing, so here's what BambooVPN uses and why:

  • Account details: if you create an account, your email address and subscription status.
  • Payments: handled by Apple or Google. BambooVPN doesn't store your card details.
  • Devices you sign in on: each signed-in device is registered, so the app can enforce the 10-device limit.
  • App analytics and crash reports: used to understand how the app is used and to fix bugs. On iPhone, the app asks your permission before any tracking, through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
  • Support messages: if you contact support, your messages and email.

These tools see what you do inside the BambooVPN app, such as which screen you open or when the app crashes. They don't see the websites you visit through the VPN.

How BambooVPN protects your connection

  • Encryption: connections use WireGuard, which uses modern ChaCha20-Poly1305 cryptography, or OpenVPN.
  • Kill Switch (Pro): stops traffic outside the VPN if the connection drops.
  • BambooShield (Pro): blocks known ads, trackers, malware and phishing sites on premium servers.
  • Secure Core (Pro): routes your traffic through two servers for extra privacy.

What BambooVPN doesn't claim

Being clear about what a VPN does matters as much as listing features:

  • It doesn't make you anonymous. Websites you sign in to still know it's you, and cookies and browser fingerprinting still work. A VPN hides your traffic from the network and your IP address from websites; that's all.
  • No independent audit yet. Our no-logs policy is set out in our privacy policy; it hasn't been checked by an outside auditor yet.
  • It isn't antivirus. BambooShield blocks known bad sites, but it doesn't scan your device.

Is the free version of BambooVPN safe?

The free version uses the same encryption as the paid plans. There are no ads in the app: the free servers are paid for by people who upgrade to Pro, not by selling your browsing data. Pro unlocks more servers, plus features such as BambooShield and the Kill Switch.

Be careful with any free VPN that doesn't explain how it makes money. If a VPN is free, you should be able to see whether it's paid for by ads, upgrades or something you'd object to.
